Sweet Lauren,

The bad news: Sorry about your bangs.

The good news: Hair grows back and you are going to KINDERGARTEN! You’re going to LOVE it so much! Like so much that you just can’t get enough sense - that you PLAY school AFTER school much. Your enthusiasm to learn and endless creativity will be nurtured at school. Have fun with your imagination. And ask LOTS of questions. 

LISTEN.

Know that there is something to be learned from everybody. Listen to as many people as you can, as often as you can. Listen with the intention to learn - learn about them, from them, with them.

MAKE NEW FRIENDS.

Ask other people questions - they love to talk about themselves. Be kind to everyone. Tell the truth - it’s so much easier. Do it right the first time. Ask for help. Try your best.

BE NICE TO OLD PEOPLE

Appreciate your family and be grateful for the adults in your life because they love you unconditionally - this means that they have your best interest at heart. They also have a fully developed prefrontal cortex so they’re better at making decisions than you are - sorry, it is what it is. You’ll get there. But for real - their support is a gift that you are lucky to have. Be patient with them - old people kind of turn back into little people at some point. Patience is hard. Practice - a lot. Even with yourself, be patient. Another thing they are going to want to do is take a million pictures of you. Let them. You will love to look back on these memories. These are the moments that you will cherish as you get older.

FAIL OFTEN AND FAIL FAST

Life is what you make of it. Life is a gift. Be present. Enjoy each moment. Make the most out of each opportunity. See setbacks as opportunities to learn. Take advantage of all that life has to offer. It’s okay to be scared. You will never know if you don’t try.  You are the captain of your life. Learn, grow, press forward. 

AMAZE YOURSELF

You are the creator of your own destiny. You are capable of incredible things. Dream, discover, explore, adventure. Never lose your sense of wonder. Don’t wait until the last minute to go to the bathroom. You are bus #2. Your dolls are so lucky to have you. You are an amazing mommy to your babies. Grown up life will come faster than you think. Let yourself be little. The best shortcut in life is to do things right the first time around.

Share your toys, bliss, feelings, and ideas. Your opinions, questions and thoughts. Energy is contagious (so is catching a cold - wash your hands for the whole ABC song). Infect others with your happy-go-lucky and optimistic ways. Remember that happiness is only real when shared. Try to be grateful. It is always better to give than receive. 

LOVE

You are loved. So deeply. Love life and life will love you back. You are a light and radiate joy. Your best will always be more than enough. You are more than enough.
