Connection Wellness
You do not need to be “broken” to be helped immensely by therapy. I am here to support you, and open your eyes to ways in which you can better support yourself.
MY APPROACH
I believe in meeting you exactly where you are on your journey, with a focus on your individual needs and experiences. Therapy with me is a collaborative process that centers around you as a whole person. You are welcome to show up just as you are, without any pressure or expectations. Together, we will explore mindfulness techniques to help you quiet the noise around you and connect with your mind and body. By delving into your emotions in a purposeful way, we can uncover the root causes of your symptoms or distress. I also incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to address any unhelpful thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Through simple explanations and practical techniques, we can work on changing these patterns to better serve you. Additionally, I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to provide you with valuable skills for managing emotions and relationships in your everyday life. I also offer the option to walk during our sessions, as this can provide a workout and bilateral stimulation, enhancing the therapeutic experience.
I specialize in “overwhelm”, which typically accompanies ADHD, anxiety and depression. To make the most out of your time, I incorporate my skills as a yoga instructor in session. I also provide immense value in “casual counseling”. I am here to support you, and open your eyes to ways in which you can better support yourself, your community, and your family.
MY SPECIALTY
CHILDREN
Does your little have big emotions? We ask a lot from our kids. Through modeling patience, coping skills and age-appropriate lessons in mindfulness, I can help your kiddo deal with anxiety, stress, and fear. I offer a safe space for them to untangle what is really bothering them. It is HARD to teach emotional intelligence at home, especially when we are often in survival mode as parents. Therapy gives your kiddo an opportunity to slow down and deal with the problems that are big to them.
Ugh. Being a teenager is a LOT. Especially with parents breathing down your throat, too much schoolwork, and not enough time. It can seem impossible to get it all done and to please everyone. This is time for you. Not your parents, teachers, or even your friends/relationship. I offer a non-judgmental, compassionate space for you to vent and catch your breath. To increase your emotional intelligence and learn coping skills that will set you up for success in your personal and interpersonal life. To help calm the social anxiety and overwhelm that comes with living in this fast-paced society. I’ve got you. Therapy is confidential and time for you to finally focus on yourself.
TEENS
I get it. Therapy can be intimidating. It is important for me as a person-centered therapist to meet you as you are. Using a collaborative approach we will clarify what is important to you, what you need/are missing and how to get there. We will uncover what is really bothering you and discover tools/coping skills that offer the clarity, confidence and connection you are seeking. I am practiced in the evidence-based techniques of CBT + DBT.
What makes me different is my background as an advanced yoga teacher. I like to say, “we do stuff while we do stuff.” To make the most out of your time in therapy, and therapy most effective for you, we will truly incorporate mind, body and spirit in session. This can look like breathwork, yoga flows, and other wellness modalities that are best suited to the individual.
